ESL are an award-winning supplier, installer and integrator of professional audio, visual and security equipment, who will be creating two bespoke light installations unique to Southend LuminoCity.

‘Royal Walk’ will see lighting columns paint a swirling pattern of colour across the pavement outside the Royals Shopping Centre, and ‘Brilliance’ will provide a kaleidoscope of colour underneath the High Street railway bridge. These two custom-made installations will not only showcase the incredible talent from this local business but will also increase the number of awe-inspiring installations to 13 in total.

Another aspect of ESL’s involvement will be ‘LumiJam’, where some of the street art from Southend City Jam will be illuminated with dazzling lighting displays, adding another dimension to the incredible artwork that has been left as a legacy of the street art festival back in September.

ESL Director, Mike Glover, said: “We’re a local business established in 2001 and have been wanting to get involved with the community for a long time. With our extensive knowledge of lighting and lighting design, this enables us to give something back to our community. We knew that Southend LuminoCity would be the perfect event to not only showcase what we can do, but contribute something worthwhile to the city of Southend.”

Cllr Carole Mulroney, cabinet member for environment, culture and tourism, added: “It’s fantastic that Essex Sound and Light Ltd have joined LuminoCity as a headline sponsor, which has enabled us to add two more wonderful installations to the festival. The event attracted over 200,000 visitors last year and we hope that, with the incredible new additions, this year will be even more popular!

“The return of LuminoCity bears witness to the enthusiasm of residents and visitors for Southend as a place to enjoy themselves, and the artistic combination of light and art adds to our cultural offer. Let’s shine a light on Southend because it’s worth it.”

Further information regarding the event, including full details of all the installations, will be released soon and updated on the Southend LuminoCity website.
