The London Handel Players bring together leading period-instrument specialists in the field of baroque chamber music. Their programme entitled Pearls of Baroque includes chamber music by Handel, JS Bach, Scarlatti, Quantz and Telemann to name just a few of the composers and is sure to delight audiences.

Tickets are now on sale for their must-see performance in Southend. This is the first time the concert series will be held at the Civic Centre, which has the benefit of free parking after 6pm and is also easily accessible as it’s located on a major bus route and close to both Southend Victoria and Southend Central train stations.

The London Handel Players are closely associated with the renowned London Handel Festival and perform regularly at Handel’s church, St George’s Hanover Square, Handel House Museum and Wigmore Hall. For over 20 years, the group has also thrilled audiences with their highly acclaimed recordings and recent performances in the UK and Europe and further afield in the US and Canada.

Councillor Derek Jarvis, cabinet member for arts, culture, heritage, and leisure, said: “We are delighted that Southend will be welcoming The London Handel Players to perform as part of our much-loved council concert series with their unique programme of baroque music.

“Our concerts make sure both residents and visitors have an opportunity to experience world-renowned music without having to travel to the big concert halls, cathedrals and abbeys of London and other major cities.

“I would encourage everyone to book early for this performance at the Civic Centre so as not to miss the amazing musical talents of this ensemble in their first ever performance in our city.

The concert takes place in the Civic Centre, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, starting at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased online or by phone on 01702 215011, Monday to Friday, during normal office hours. Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the concert.
